Our story
The Phuket Student Journal was born out of a simple question: “Why isn’t there a place for us to share our ideas?” Even though we were all part of Phuket’s international community, we felt disconnected. We all had stories to tell—multitudes of ideas, achievements, and burning opinions—but no platform that allowed us to share them.
What if we changed that?
What began as casual conversations over lunch between a few students from HeadStart and British International School quickly turned into something bigger. We envisioned a journal where students from all over the island could share their writing, debate important issues, and engage in meaningful dialogue—something truly for students, by students.
This is why the Phuket Student Journal was born. It isn't just about creating yet another publication—it is about interconnectivity, and building a platform where students could come together, break down barriers, and start conversations that crossed school boundaries. Our sincere aim is to increase interconnectivity around the island, promote inclusion and diversity, foster a culture of inquiry and debate, and give young writers, thinkers, and journalists the chance to be heard.
This publication stands as a testament to what students can achieve when they unite with a shared purpose. Guided by the principle of for students, by students, wherever there are ideas, the Phuket Student Journal will be here to share them.
